"The difference between science and the arts is not that they are different sides of the same coin even, or even different parts of the same continuum, but rather, they are manifestations of the same thing. The arts and sciences are avatars of human creativity."
Mae Jemison, engineer, physician and former NASA astronaut
My love for both art and science began before my memories start and both have been principal in my personal, academic and professional development. The objective of my efforts as an aspiring geneticist and science curator is to invite people into science news and discussion as active participants regardless of their scientific, educational or sociopolitical background. People learn and engage with new information in many different ways and I aim to participate in the broad communication of science news and education in written, visual and multimedia formats. Everyone can learn something new about our genomes today but not everyone has an accessible way to engage with the growing knowledge of genome science. With the collective efforts of researchers, informed practitioners, science communicators and a diverse community I believe we can change the world using As, Ts, Cs and Gs.
